Supporting YOU Safely!

Middletown, CT, January 5, 2021 - January 1st is traditionally a symbolic day to refocus the priorities in your life. For many, that means focusing on your personal well-being, and more specifically, committing to exercising more. The Northern Middlesex YMCA is eager and ready to help you safely and conveniently navigate your wellness journey so you can feel your best. The YMCA offers in-person and online options to help you reach your goals, connect with others, and get the support you need in 2021.

Member safety is our top priority and the YMCA is clean, safe, and in full compliance with all DECD and public health guidelines regarding cleaning, sanitizing, and social distancing. “We know that even more than friendly staff and great classes, our members are most concerned about the safety and cleanliness of the facility. Beyond cleanliness, all of our staff are trained on how to lead and monitor activities following the most current guidelines in a friendly, welcoming way”, says Michele Rulnick, Northern Middlesex YMCA CEO.

At the Northern Middlesex YMCA, located at 99 Union Street, members have access to the following amenities: Fitness Center, Cardio Room, Performance Zone, Gymnasium with additional fitness equipment, Basketball, Large Pool Lap Swim, Small Pool Adult Swim, Swim Lessons and Racquetball Courts.

In addition to all of the modified amenities, the YMCA offers virtual programming for members who prefer to connect with their friends and exercise from the convenience of their home. “I miss going to the YMCA, and the online classes have been a blessing for me. Not only can I exercise from home, I now do classes I could never try in person any time I want. I’ve done more classes online than ever before,” says YMCA member Gail S.

“We are proud of our ability to adapt our traditional activities in innovative ways and will continue to do so. More importantly, we have been able adapt to our community’s needs and provide service in new ways,” says Northern Middlesex YMCA CEO, Michele Rulnick. To support families during the pandemic since March, the YMCA has offered childcare support for working parents beginning with free Emergency childcare for first responders and healthcare professionals. Summer camp was offered safely for 8 weeks. Before and After School Childcare continues at elementary schools in Middletown, Portland and Cromwell with Distance Learning Support Programming available Monday – Friday at the YMCA.

New members who join and pay for the month of January will receive ½ off their February monthly draft bill. $0 Joiners Fee for all new members during the month of January.
