CODE OF CONDUCT
At the Northern Middlesex YMCA, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all members, guests, and program participants. We expect everyone to demonstrate maturity, respect, and responsibility while using our facilities or participating in our programs.
To maintain this environment, the following behaviors are strictly prohibited on YMCA property or at YMCA-sponsored events:

The use or distribution of alcohol, marijuana, illegal substances, or tobacco products, including smoking or vaping on YMCA grounds.

The use of fitness equipment while under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or any other substances that impair judgment, coordination, or physical ability.

Harassment, intimidation, or any form of threatening or aggressive behavior, including verbal abuse, physical threats, or offensive gestures.

Inappropriate conduct, including sexual behavior or language, and attire that is not suitable for the intended activity.

Theft, vandalism, or misuse of YMCA property or the property of others.

Unauthorized photography or cell phone use, including capturing images of members or participants without consent.

Any behavior that is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or contrary to YMCA values.
As a member, you are expected to maintain personal hygiene and conduct yourself in a manner that ensures a pleasant and respectful environment for everyone. Unpleasant odors or disruptive behavior caused by poor hygiene, marijuana use, alcohol consumption, or other substances are not permitted in shared or public spaces.
Members and guests are expected to dress appropriately for the activity in which they are participating and use YMCA facilities with respect for others. We also ask that all members and guests act responsibly for their own safety and well-being. If behavior is observed that violates this Code of Conduct, it should be reported to staff or the Manager on Duty.
Membership privileges may be revoked or refused at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer if a member’s actions, behavior, or statements violate YMCA policies, values, or pose a risk to the safety or integrity of the organization and its members.
Enforcement:
YMCA staff reserve the right to determine whether behavior aligns with YMCA values and policies. Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in suspension or revocation of YMCA privileges.
YOUTH CODE OF CONDUCT
The Northern Middlesex YMCA is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all our youth members. This Code of Conduct ensures that every young person has the opportunity to thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect, teamwork, and responsibility.
As a YMCA youth member, you are encouraged to be a positive role model for others. We ask that you:

Be Respectful and Responsible: Treat others with kindness, respect, and courtesy at all times.

Demonstrate Leadership: Encourage and inspire others through your actions and words. Set a positive example in how you interact with peers, staff, and the YMCA community.

Use the Facilities Properly: Respect YMCA property, including equipment, and use it according to its intended purpose. Ask staff for assistance if needed.

Participate Positively: Engage in activities with a cooperative spirit and contribute to a positive and inclusive environment.

Resolve Conflicts Peacefully: Approach disagreements in a calm and respectful manner. Avoid physical contact, threatening gestures, or disrespectful language.

Dress Appropriately: Wear suitable clothing for the activity you are participating in, keeping safety and comfort in mind.

Be Safe and Considerate: Keep all activity within designated areas, such as running or ball play in the gymnasium, to ensure the safety and comfort of others.
At the YMCA, we believe that youth have the ability to make a positive impact on their communities. By demonstrating good behavior and supporting others, you help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.
